That figure you selling could easily be the next thing our attendees put up on their shelf! Check out the information below to learn more about applying to our Dealers Room.

We appreciate your interest in being a part of our Dealers Room at Shenanicon! Please read below the rules and policies prior to applying. Dealers Room applications will be open starting Tuesday, March 5th, 2024 and will close after 25 submissions. Please note before applying that the convention is capped at 450 attendees.

Accepted applicants for the Dealers Room will not need to purchase a separate convention badge, as that is included in the Dealers Room registration. You will be contacted prior to April 19th, 2024 with the status of your application. If you have been accepted, you will be sent payment information at that time.

Our Dealers Room is a juried hall. All of our dealers are selected via the jury process where we evaluate all dealers based on the same set of criteria. In order to aid in this process, we strongly recommend that you include a link to an online portfolio of what you sell and/or images of your setup at previous conventions. We receive many more applications than we can accept and having samples of your booths provided to us will greatly aid in our process.

Dealers Room Rates

A booth registration is $200 and includes:

• One (1) 8′ x 8′ Space
• One (1) 6′ x 2.5′ Table
• Two (2) Dealers Room Membership to Shenanicon 2024

Additional Dealers Room memberships are available at the rate of $40/person. Additional booth space (up to 2 total spaces) can be purchased for $200 each.

Payments will be arranged via Shenanicon’s online payment center. Shenanicon will hold your space for up to fourteen days for payment. Failure to pay by that time will result in forfeiture of your table. Artists are not permitted to resell tables.

Dealers that have paid and cancel prior to May 22nd, 2024 will receive a full refund. Any cancellations after May 22nd, 2024 will results in complete forfeiture of payment and booth. All refund requests must be made via email to the Dealers Room Head only. All refunds will be issued thirty (30) days after Shenanicon 2024 concludes. No refunds will be issued during Shenanicon 2024.

Dealers Room Policies

Being an dealer at Shenanicon means abiding by all of the following:

• Dealers must be 21 years of age or older at the time of the convention to obtain a table at the convention.
• All Dealers must have a Dealers Room membership.
• Dealers must abide by all convention policies, all rules set forth on this page, and any written or verbal rules set forth by the Dealers Room Head or Con Chair.
• Displays may not be wider than the table, hang into the walkways, or encroach or block other dealers tables/space.
• Displays must be steady and able to secured without being held.
• No bootlegs or unlicensed reproductions of existing merchandise may be sold.
• No industrial machines or flammable materials, such as airbrushes, high-pressure cans, or flammable supplies, are to be at the table.
• No music may be played at the table out of respect for fellow artists and attendees.
• Dealers must abide by all state and federal laws, especially concerning copyright laws and restricted sales of unsafe products.
  

What Can You Sell

You are allowed to sell the following items:

• Any licensed authentic US merchandise.
• Any licensed authentic imported merchandise.
• Any products featuring your own creations.
• Used goods (that are legitimate) that are clearly labelled as such.
• Art that is explicitly your own work (no plagiarizing).
• Commissioned works.

What You Can’t Sell

The following items are not allowed to be sold in the Dealers Room at the convention:

• Dangerous merchandise, including, but not limited to: weapons, loud noisemakers, combustible items, and items that could easily cause harm.
• Knockoff or bootleg merchandise.
• Bootleg videotapes, video CDs, or DVDs (this includes bootlegged videos recorded on blank videotapes with printed labels, pirate copies of any titles that have been released commercially in the United States, Japan, or elsewhere, or titles taped off the air in Japan – and any and all fansubs).
• Any posters, idol cards, etc. which read “Kodak”, “Fuji”, etc. on the back.
• Unlicensed reproductions of any products, regardless of whether they are released by an American company.
• Contact lenses or any other kind of regulated medical device.
• Food, snacks, beverages, or items of the sort.
• Merchandise depicting a child-like character in an erotic or sexual manner.

If you are caught or reported to be selling ANY of the above banned items, or anything else deemed banned by the Dealers Room Head or Con Chair, Shenanicon reserves the right to dismiss your table from the convention with no refund. A first warning given should be considered your last, and any warnings after that will result in expulsion from the convention and forfeiture of all fees.

Bootleg Policy

Shenanicon has a strict NO BOOTLEG policy. We will have zero-tolerance for any Dealers that do not comply with our policies regarding bootlegs and trademark violations. Any Dealers found to be selling bootleg (or illegal to distribute) merchandise will be issued a warning and be asked to remove the item(s) from the table for the remainder of the convention. Failure to do so will result in immediate expulsion from the convention, revocation of registration, and a possible disqualification from participating in future events.

Hours of Operation

The Dealers Room will be open for the following hours:

• Friday (Set-Up Only): 6:00pm – 10:00pm
• Saturday: 10:00am – 6:00pm
• Sunday: 10:00am – 3:00pm

These hours are subject to change.

Tax ID

Each Dealers Room member selling will need to register to collect sales tax in NJ. New Jersey law requires all vendors, even “one-time” vendors, to register with the State for tax purposes at least 15 business days before starting business, and to collect New Jersey sales tax on all sales of taxable tangible personal property or services. There are no special provisions for temporary vendors.

Once registered, you must file all required returns until you properly end your tax registration with New Jersey. File Form NJ-REG (Business Registration Application) to register with the State to collect/remit New Jersey taxes such as sales tax or employee withholdings, and to obtain a New Jersey tax identification number. You can register online or file a paper application. Shenanicon is not responsible for the dealers registration to New Jersey State for collecting sales tax.

Shenanicon has the right to remove a dealers if a Proof of Registration certificate is missing or not valid. To obtain a proof of registration, visit http://www.state.nj.us/treasury/revenue/proofreg.shtml.

General Notices

In order to make everyone’s time at Shenanicon wonderful, please remember the following:

• No outside food or beverages are allowed in the Dealers Room.
• Be respectful of your neighbors and other con goers.
• If you have any issues, complaints, or disputes, please bring it to the attention of the staff – Dealers Room staff will have the final say in all solutions.
• Please keep your things in your allotted space.
• Please refrain from storing trash or empty storage boxes at your table or in the room.
• DerpyCon reserves the right to prohibit the sale or advertising of any merchandise or service.
